Are you Feeling Called?

I am reflecting about my experience in Avalon and how I can continue to bring what I felt there into my everyday life. 

I’m still processing what I learned there and experienced. But what a wonderful place and experience! I am thankful I had the opportunity to travel there and experience everything I felt there.

In the spirit of what Martha Beck calls being "TAO- Transparent Authentic and Open," I feel like sharing more openly about why I felt called to start this business and my experience while working on it.

I’ve been through a lot in my life and long to share any wisdom I have gained with others. I believe we all gain wisdom as we experience the ups and downs and challenges of life, and I would also like to help you to recognize and claim yours, if it got lost in the experience, which may have been turbulent. Or hidden amongst the grief you may experience with it.

I have been on a journey to create this business. I’ve never had a business background and came from a long line of academics and teachers, though there were also people in my family who had businesses. The journey began with me simply wanting to make a change in my life and not knowing what to do. When suddenly I found a class. Honestly, it was marketing that spoke to me about what I was going through. I am learning to share such messaging myself, with all the integrity that has always been so important to me.

A long time ago now, I signed up for that class. And one class led to another, and as I learned more, I felt a strong calling to share what I learned with others. And help them transform their circumstances like those classes helped me to transform mine.

Now I’m working hard to learn how to run a business and call in my ideal clients, which can be frustrating at times, especially if you don’t have a business background. So I started reading a book called How To Love your Business by Nicole Lewis-Keebler. In this book, she asks us to relate to our business as though it were a real person that we can communicate with. This actually wasn’t the 1st time I was asked to do something like this, but it was the 1st time I was able to think of this kind of exercise in a concrete way that I could do something with, that wasn’t too abstract.

And here’s where it relates back to my experience in Avalon.

As I meditated and felt into how I would like my business to feel- both to me and my ideal clients- i remembered how it felt to be in Avalon.  I met all these interesting people there who said they felt “called” to journey to this place and evidently responded to the calling.

The presence of the Divine Feminine in this space and what it felt like. (Whoa whoa whoa, what am I talking about here? This is a whole other topic I may get into more deeply another time as well…)  To be in the presence of the “Divine Feminine” and “Divine Masculine” that so many people making the pilgrimage there are yearning for. And strive to embody. That can be tapped into anywhere but is especially strong in that place.

I remembered what it felt like in the Temple there, when I walked in and did not know what it was about but I sat down and decided to approach it the way I would approach a meditation in a yoga studio or synagogue.

And before I knew it, i fell asleep. I wasn’t particularly aware that I was tired when I walked in there. It kind of took me by surprise. It’s not common for me to fall asleep in a room full of strangers.  It felt strangely comforting to fall asleep there too. And when I woke up, I felt refreshed and like i must have needed that. It was almost as if some entity I was unaware of had led me to that sleep to deliver a message. Through my subconscious. I only felt comforted by the experience and that i was better for it.

Back at home, I read that book, and felt into the exercise and remembered that experience in Avalon.

I would like interactions with my business to feel the way that nap felt in Avalon.

Supported, grounded and nurturing. Whether the interactions are between myself and my business, or my business and my clients.  Memorable, and magical.
